WHCC Subs Information 2023

We continue our commitment to make playing Cricket at Winchmore Hill as affordable as possible but the Committee have decided that some small increases are necessary this year.

Those players who have subs outstanding from 2022 will not be allowed to play until all of their subs are paid in full.

For the 2023 season an ‘early bird discount’ is in place for seniors if membership is paid in full prior to 17th May.

Match Fees are not required for age group games U17 and below, apart from Middlesex Youth Trophy (U17) matches where there will be a £6 match fee to cover the cost of a panel umpire. This £6 match fee also applies to all U19 matches in the T20 Trophy for the same reason.

U18s playing senior cricket at weekends pay the same match fee as Intermediates.

The section have decided to offer an incentive for the coming season for members who introduce new Senior and Intermediate members to the club. If you introduce a new member to the club you will be entitled to be reimbursed 25% of their Annual Subscription (£30 for Seniors and £15 for Intermediates). If you have introduced someone to the club and wish to be reimbursed please contact the sections treasurer, Chris Haslam. Please note that you will only receive the money once the new members Annual Subscription has been paid.

Note – anybody who has paid subs for another section (football, tennis etc) gets a £20 discount!

New Members

Please email whcricketcomms@gmail.com if you are interested in playing for Winchmore Hill

We are continually on the look out for new members of all ability. We run six league sides on a Saturday. On Sundays we are entering the Middlesex Development League (primarily for U21s) and friendly cricket is played by the Winchmore Hill Tigers and the Winchmore Hill Lions. The First XI also competes in two very competitive Sunday Cup competitions over the course of the season. We also arrange Friendly Club XI & midweek T20 matches when we can.

The Saturday sides all take part in the Middlesex County Cricket League competition.

The Club also runs a highly successful Colts section which has over 250 members from the ages of 7 through to 17. For more information please click on the ‘COLTS’ page in the top of the banner. Any new colts members are always welcome as are any new or qualified coaches.

Winchmore Hill provides some great cricketing facilities with three pitches, a new artificial practice area and a friendly warm Club House. The Club currently has a great mix of both Youth and Senior Members and a great social, friendly atmosphere where it is almost impossible not to feel part of this great Club.

The Club has designated practice evenings during the season where coaching and structured practice can be offered. We are also looking to begin indoor pre-season training within the New Year.

Overseas Members

We have over the years welcomed players from overseas destination such as Australia, New Zealand, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India and South Africa with many staying on for more than one year and some coming back for a number of seasons.

Unfortunately, due to League rules, the Club is slightly constrained as to the number of overseas players that can play in each of the top two sides and we are also unable to provide financial packages to players. Rules also dictate that no player who has been classed as “Professional” in the preceding twelve months can play in the League. We do, however, have a very structured selection policy where good performances are rewarded with regular free movement between the sides.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE WILL NOT CONSIDER ANY OVERSEAS PLAYER WITHOUT RECOMMENDATIONS FROM CURRENT CLUB MEMBERS.

WE DO NOT TAKE ON PLAYERS REPRESENTED BY AGENTS.

Player Recruitment Drive

If you know of a mate, colleague, acquaintance or stranger who might be interested in joining the club, tell them to email whcricketcomms@gmail.com and more information about joining the club can get passed on.

We always need new faces to strengthen all our sides so any players are welcome!

Players in the senior section currently pay a small annual subscription and then match fees each time they play. Discounts are given to those with low incomes such as the unemployed and students and in exceptional cases fees are completely waived. However, we are in the process of altering this arrangement so that the match fees will be substantially reduced and the balance of the running costs will be met by donations and other fund raising events. The application of discounts for those on low incomes will continue to apply as will the waiver of fees in exceptional circumstances. The youth section operate in a different way financially as they make a number of payments throughout the season to cover the costs of providing the facilities and then make an annual donation to the club to help with the other costs. As with the senior section there are special arrangements for those on low incomes and occasional remission of all fees for those facing exceptional financial hardship. Thus there should never be a player who is unable to benefit due to financial considerations.
