SEASON 2020 PREVIEW

Thanks to Team Sec Tim Royall for putting this together

1st XI Captain: Sacha Selvaratnum

Division: 1st XI Division 2

New Clubs in Division: Stanmore (Relegated), Harrow St Marys (Relegated), Acton (Promoted) Wembley (Promoted)

Team & Fixture Highlights: The 1's will be looking to build on their decent season in 2019 with a push for promotion in 2020. New skipper Sacha Selvaratnum will have the majority of his squad available from last season, with one notable exception, but with some conversations bubbling away in the background he could have a couple of "New" recruits to select from. As well as some potential new players Sacha will be keeping a keen eye on some of the young exciting talent coming through from the victorious U15 & u17s squads. Some standout fixtures to look forward to include mouth watering fixtures against Stanmore who were relegated from the Premier Division last season;

  • Away 20th June (Timed)
  • Home 22nd August (Overs),

Once again we will do battle with our old rivals Enfield;

  • Away 4th July (Timed)
  • Home 5th September (Overs).

2nd XI Captain: Will Irwin

Division: 2nd XI Division 3

New Clubs in Division: Kenton (Relegated), Southgate (Relegated), Stoke Newington (Promoted)

Team & Fixture Highlights: The 2's will be hoping for a strong start after a nightmare first half of the season in 2019. Will Irwin's side will have a good blend of old and new heads in 2020 with a number of talented young players will be hoping to make a name for themselves. After 5 seasons in the 3rd tier could this be the year the 2's make it back up the ladder? Some exciting fixtures to look forward to with an old local enemy coming down and an interesting new outfit coming up to challenge the 2's in 2020. Southgate will hope their 2nd XI bounce straight back up after relegation with ties against the hill;

  • Home 16th May (Overs)
  • Away 18th July (Timed)

Newcomers following in the footsteps of Crouch End, Stoke Newington are on the up and will be hoping to cause an upset when they face the 2's;

  • Home 20th June (Timed)
  • Away 22nd August (Overs)

3rd XI Captain: Ed Sobers

Division: 3rd Tier Division 3

New Clubs in Division: Hornsey (Relegated) Finchley (Relegated) Winchmore Hill (Promoted) North London 4's (Promoted)

Team & Fixture Highlights: New skipper Ed Sobers will be hoping his 3's will go again and have another fantastic season. With a whole host of young talent at his disposal, along with some steady old heads he'll be hoping to hit the ground running back in the 3rd Division where the 3's really belong! With some strong sides in this league the 3's will be challenged by the likes of Finchley and Hornsey who will be looking to bounce back up to the 2nd Division. A pick of the fixtures looks to be the clashes with Hornsey who we can assume will be pushing some of their own youngsters to prove their quality, and we all remember the tussles over the years in the MDL against this strong club. The Hornsey fixtures are as follows;

  • Away 6th June (Overs)
  • Home 8th August (Timed)

4th & 5th XI Captains: 4's - Pete Gunter & 5's - Nadeem Mahzar

Division: 3rd Tier Division 6A

New Clubs in Division: Winchmore Hill 5's (Regionalised) Alexandra Park 5's (Regionalised) A few others (See below)

Team & Fixture Highlights: So, for the first time EVER, the Winchmore 4's and Winchmore 5's will face off in the same division! What a time to be alive! Joined by Alexandra Park who are in the same position, the league have decided (quite rightly) it is ridiculous what happened last year when the 5's trekked round the North Circular every other week to play teams in the south of Middlesex. This league construction throws up a very interesting series of matches for the 4's and 5's where they will play each other two times, effectively both at home, and the furthest these two sides will have to travel is Brondesbury. Also a date to keep in your diary, which will undoubtedly be a social night, is the 8th of August when the only team not playing at home are the 1st XI who are down the road at Highgate. Winchmore 4s vs Winchmore 5s fixtures are as below;

  • Home 6th of June (Overs)
  • Home 8th August (Timed)
