Cricket Dinner Friday 24th September

The annual cricket dinner is back!

Former England captain Chris Cowdrey will be the speaker for the evening and there will be the usual fun and games (raffle, heads and tails etc.). With the 2's and 4's already up and the 3's possibly too, it is expected to be a cracking evening.

Chris Cowdrey will no doubt be worth the ticket price alone. Following a strong season for Kent CCC in 1984, he was called up for England against India. Fielding at short leg when Gower surprisingly asked him to bowl, he forgot to take off his shin pads and bowled Kapil Dev with his fourth ball. Presumably where Campbell Lloyd-Barnes takes his shin pad wearing inspiration from. A stint as England captain in 1988 later followed and participation in the rebel tour of South Africa in 1990 will only add to what should be an excellent guest speaking performance.

The bar will be open from 6pm for a 7.30pm sit down for dinner.

Please let your captain or Gareth Davies know you are attending and transfer £30 to the usual WHCC bank account to secure your place.
