Appointment of the Director of Cricket
2nd January 2026 Dear Members, The Committee is pleased to announce the appointment of Ganapathi Chandrasaker as our new Director of Cricket. Ganapathi brings extensive experience as both a high-level player and an accomplished coach. As a player, he competed as a right-arm seam bowler and right-handed batter in Indian first-class cricket, representing Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy, the South Zone in the Duleep Trophy, and earning selection for India A in 2010. This experience has given him strong insight into elite performance standards and player development. Since moving into coaching, Ganapathi has worked across multiple disciplines including cricket, fast bowling, batting, fielding, and strength & conditioning. He has led athlete development programmes, overseen individual player pathways, and used performance technologies, including athlete load monitoring, to support match readiness. Ganapathi has coached widely in both the UK and India. In the UK, his experience includes coaching across all age groups up to First XI level at Latymer Upper School, working within the Surrey CCC talent pathway (U13–U18), and holding senior coaching roles at Hampton Wick Royal CC, as well as coaching at Teddington CC, Esher CC, and Bushy Park Girls CC. Previously in India, he worked with the U19's National Cricket Academy, the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, and club teams, developing a strong understanding of elite and grassroots pathways. As Director of Cricket, Ganapathi will oversee all cricketing matters across the club, including player development pathways, coaching structures, performance standards, and the long-term cricket strategy of WHCC, while also working directly with players from our youngest age groups through to our 1st XI. Our junior members will be the first to work with Ganapathi as he begins his role, leading and coaching our Winter Training Programme, which starts on Sunday 11th January at Ashmole Academy, Southgate. We encourage all eligible players to sign up via Teamo and be part of this exciting new chapter for the club. The Committee is confident that Ganapathi’s leadership, experience, and vision will significantly strengthen our cricket programme. Please join us in welcoming him to the club. Kind regards,Matt Webster
